The first 24 hours
From landing at the airport to checking into your hotel, your first day doesn't have to feel like a guessing game.
Have your accommodation address written down, keep your passport and any required documents together, and expect a queue after a long-haul flight.
Sort a local SIM or activate an eSIM before you leave the terminal, and withdraw or exchange a small amount of baht for your first day.
Choose between the rail link, a metered taxi from the official rank, a ride-hailing pickup or a pre-booked transfer — each trades cost against effort.
If you land before check-in opens, most hotels will hold your bag. Message ahead about your arrival time rather than hoping for the best.
One easy meal, one short walk, daylight if you can get it, then an early night. Save the ambitious plans for day two.
